BritSPAG visits Egypt: May 2015

Professor Anne Garden and Dr. Brigid Hayden represented BritSPAG at the 19th. ASOGIC  medical conference in Egypt on 27th. and 28th. May 2015.

This conference was organised and delivered by senior members of the Department of Obstetrics & Gyanecology of Ain Shams University, Cairo, led by Professor Alaa ElFeky, President of ASOGIC-19.

The 1,000-strong audience included delegates from 20 countries, as well as representatives from every University in Egypt.

At the conference opening ceremony, we were introduced to the concept of 'edutrainment', namely education, training and entertainment!
The conference more than fulfilled these three objectives, providing a broad range of lectures of a high academic calibre, within a most convivial environment in an excellent conference venue.

Between them, Anne and Brigid presented seven lectures in total, on subjects including   Turner's syndrome, induction of puberty, modern vaginoplasty options, fertility preservation and uterine transplantation.

The work of BritSPAG was highlighted in these presentations, which were well-received by the audience of specialists, trainees, general practitioners and medical students.

The ASOGIC Committee gave Anne and Brigid an extremely warm welcome, from their arrival  in Cairo airport right through to sight-seeing visits to the pyramids and the Nile.

Anne and Brigid felt privileged to represent BritSPAG at the ASOGIC-19 conference, and were delighted that the meeting was such a great success.
