Sex Steroid Treatment for Pubertal Induction and Replacement in the Adolescent Girl

The RCOG has just published a new scientific impact paper on Sex Steroid Treatment for Pubertal Induction and Replacement in the Adolescent Girl

“There are a variety of reasons that adolescent girls may require sex steroid replacement therapy, such as hypogonadism and pubertal delay. This Scientific Impact Paper discusses the use of sex steroid replacement in adolescent girls to treat the aforementioned medical issues and the time at which such a therapy should be induced and the research conducted in this area. The paper concludes that certain considerations should be made before inducing such therapy, and that research into cardiovascular and bone outcomes are necessary before full evaluations of the risks of such treatments can be made”.
