BritSPAG wishes to thank Dr Pallavi Latthe for her dedication, hard work and strong leadership of BritSPAG over the last 3 years. She has shown unwavering commitment to the society, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment, incorporating all members of the multidisciplinary team. She will remain as Chair for a period of handover to our new Chair Elect, Dr Cara Williams. Cara will move into the role from the position of Treasurer and the was an unopposed candidate. A formal handover will occur in March 2025 at the BritSPAG conference.
Dr Cara William’s candidate statement:
“I was appointed as a Consultant in PAG at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Liverpool Women’s Hospital in 2016. I am the clinical lead for PAG and have also been DSD lead since 2021. Both units are registered as NHS England specialist centres for Congenital Gynaecological Anomalies (CGA). We run up to 10 PAG clinics per week including dedicated CGA, Turner syndrome, endogynae, paediatric vulval and premature ovarian insufficiency clinics.
I have published widely in the field of PAG and co-edited the RCOG textbook ‘Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology for the MRCOG’. I am keen to develop research opportunities in PAG and am currently the local PI for the POISE trial.
Multi-disciplinary working and education are essential in PAG and I have been involved in teaching sessions for all specialties involved in the PAG MDT. I am the PAG SITM preceptor for the North West and currently have 2 doctors registered for the SITM. I also provide educational and clinical supervision for a clinical fellow in PAG.
I have been a member of BritSPAG for over 15 years, and treasurer on the national committee for the last 6 years. During this time, I have organised the annual BritSPAG conference on three occasions and represented BritSPAG at various national conferences. I have an excellent understanding about the running of the society and the roles and responsibilities of the Chair.
I am passionate about providing specialised multi-disciplinary care and support to the paediatric and adolescent population. I believe in creating a collaborative environment where healthcare professionals can share knowledge and practices to improve the quality of care provided to young girls.
It would be an honour to become Chair of BritSPAG and I firmly believe I will contribute significantly to the society leading initiatives to promote education, research, and awareness in PAG.”
